Our story begins in 1984 when our grandfather ventured into creating bakkwa, a Chinese salty-sweet jerky. He developed on a recipe originated from Singapore, where bakkwa is first made popular. Due the economic hardship at the time, he sold bakkwa door yo door for a living. His passion for making bakkwa as a snack enjoyable at any occasions has inspired us to continue hs works. Charqi is the fruit of labour our grandfather has envisioned. The name Charqi comes from the original name for jerky, "Ch'arki". It is a Quechuan language of the Incas that literally translates into dried meat. Jerky is both flavourful and compact making it the snack of choice all around the world. Enjoy our delicious jerky as the perfect companion for your camping trip, afternoon snack or movie night.
